I grabbed some new ones for my button collection for this easy project. For these button Christmas tree ornaments, I used assorted sizes of red, green, and white buttons making sure to add the largest buttons to the bottom. Except I did add a couple of really small ones to represent the tree trunk.
You can probably find buttons at the dollar stores, they have all sorts of things now for simple crafts. Just make sure that you grab different sizes.
The best part about this beautiful button tree is that it’s a perfect craft for young children and even older kids. Adding the buttons in various sizes is a great motor skill exercise plus it’s so much fun!

Hanging Button Christmas Tree Ornament

Materials
- Snowflake Buttons
- Red Buttons
- Green Buttons
- Fishing Line
Tools
- Scissors
Instructions
- Sort Buttons into a pattern
- Cut a piece of bead cord, about 7 inches long
- String buttons on, 3 at the bottom if you want a stem
- Start then with the largest of your buttons, randomly adding the appropriate snowflake between buttons until you reach the top.
- Tie a knot at the top to secure the buttons together
- Tie a second know as close as you can to the top of the loose ends
- Hang on a tree or carefully stand up
I love your button tree idea. I tried to find the snowflake buttons and when I click your link it says Blocked. So I have looked online and most of the buttons are one size in the package. Your tree looks like different sizes. Can you help me find the buttons you used?
