You should learn how to make waterproof stickers because it’s such a simple process. Making your own stickers with your Cricut machine is a good idea if you are thinking about starting a small sticker business or if you know some sticker lovers.
Cricut’s Print Then Cut feature is the easiest way to make stickers. All you have to do is:
- make or upload a design into Cricut Design Space
- load your printer with sticker paper
- send the design to your printer to print
- it will print with a registration box around it for the Cricut to read
- the Cricut Maker or whatever machine you are using will cut around it for you
What Type Of Paper Do I Need For Stickers?
To make any custom waterproof stickers, you are going to need good sticker paper. I prefer white sticker paper but you can also get clear sticker paper.
You can not make stickers with regular paper, for it to be a sticker it should have an adhesive backing.
Cricut also makes vinyl sticker paper. I have never had any luck with this paper even feeding through my printer.
So depending on my project and if I am going to be using it for personal use or to sell, I stick with the matte or glossy sticker papers.
What Is The Best Paper For Making Stickers?
- Silhouette sticker paper is amazing. I especially love their clear glossy sticker paper.
- For outdoor use, I like this Online Sticker Labels brand.
So if you want to make your own waterproof stickers that are the highest quality and will be around for long periods of time, then you should learn how to add this protective layer to the top of the sticker and make your stickers more waterproof.
The stickers are of great quality, you don’t have to fool with spray sealers, and it’s a great way to start a small sticker business.

WOW!!! This was GREAT!!!! I followed your easy instructions and made awesome stickers!!! I first laminated them to try this method out, then I added clear holographic vinyl over the stickers before laminating. My stickers look amazing!!! The clear laminate gave them an incredible shiny finish and the holographic vinly plus lamination, made them “pop!.”
Thanks so much for sharing this!!!!
