You will not find a more fun summer craft idea. This easy decorative plate craft is so cute and perfect for your farmhouse decor, I just love it!
The best part is that it’s perfect for the person that has, erhm, saved up some extra yarn that they really didn’t need (why did I even buy it?!). I mean, if it uses extra craft supplies, I felt like that needs to be in my life, right?!
So, if you’re ready for it to be in your life…let’s get started.
How to Make a DIY Menu Board Upcycling Project
One of the best things about this project, like I said, is that it uses that yarn I bought in 1999 that I never have used. Like that random variegated stuff that won’t even work for a crochet project, even if I wanted it to.
It also uses the dark green variegated yarn mom handed down that she may have bought sometime in the 70’s…who knows?!
And what other project can you say that about?
The project itself kind of grew out of the mixture of those two yarn skeins.
They needed eachother.
They needed to become one.
The needed to become a watermelon.
Heh.
What do I Need to Make this Decorative Plate Craft?
For this project here is what you need:
- Pencil
- Metal Plate Wall Hanging (I got mine at Hobby Lobby)
- Pink Variegated Yarn
- Green Variegated Yarn
- Black or Dark Grey Yarn
- Hot Glue Gun & Glue
- Scissors
- Xacto Knife
You can find the metal plates from the dollar store or thrift stores. Or you can use glass plates–even white plates. It doesn’t have to be a vintage plate or food safe, just a plate.
And in about 30 minutes, you have an awesome watermelon wreath or summer wall decor!
And that’s it, I mean, so simple, right?! And the project itself is really just as quick as it is to gather all the supplies.
So, get ’em all together and let’s get crafty!
Oh, and after you pin this so you can come back to the project when you’ve got everything together, I would love for you to leave a comment on what you think of this tutorial.
