I’ll say right now, if you’re looking for a laser engraver and cutting machine, you can’t go wrong with this one.
I’ve enjoyed trying many different laser machines in the past few years. But the xTool P2 is one of my favorites!
It handles extra-large materials and projects like a dream, is powerful, and isn’t nearly as expensive as some of the other machines you can get.
But I want to give you all the details about this laser machine, so I’ve compiled a comprehensive review of the specs, capabilities, safety features, and more.
Plus, I compare it against two similar machines, the Omtech 55W, and the Glowforge Pro, head-to-head in the comparison chart so you can make an informed buying decision.

While the xTool P2 comes with some of the standard features you’d expect on any laser cutter machine at this price point, it also has some unique features.
First, let’s talk about the built-in smart cameras because they significantly improve the ease of use and the final cutting or engraving result.
The xTool P2 comes with dual 16 mp cameras, which also have great auto-focus features, making it easier than ever to live to preview what you’re doing as it’s happening in the machine.
Honestly, this is one of my favorite features because the close-range camera allows me to make slight tweaks or modifications that greatly improve the final result!
As if that weren’t enough, a panoramic camera makes it possible to see your entire project in one shot.
In addition to the cameras, the xTool P2 also comes with an automatic conveyor feeder for automatic passthrough of your materials.
Now, you might think, why can’t I do that myself? You can, but this feature makes it easier than ever to do intricate designs without burning or scorching your materials because you left them in place too long.
If scorching or burning your materials is a concern, you’ll also be pleased to know this laser machine has a built-in adjustable air assist. This blows air wherever the laser is working to keep the temperature of the material down, thereby preventing any burns.
In addition to these great specs that have made crafting easier than ever for me, here are some additional features you might enjoy that come with this machine!
- It has a 26 x 14-inch bed size – this large bed size makes it easy to tackle large projects.
- It is compatible with the RA2 Pro – this 4-in-1 rotary attachment makes it easier than ever to do curved surface engraving.
- Batch engraving is perfect for small business owners who want to engrave multiple items for sale in a single pass.
xTool P2 Laser
Now that we’ve talked about some of the stand-out features let’s take a moment to talk about the laser itself. After all, the laser beam is important for laser engraving and laser cutting, right!?
The xTool P2 comes with a CO2 laser head. Sound impressive? That’s because it is!
This laser machine comes with a 55W laser tube that makes it possible to cut through various materials. And even though I’ve never personally tried this, it says you can cut 18 mm into black walnut and 20 mm acrylic in one pass.
So, no matter what materials you want to craft with, you can rest assured it will work well in this machine. Be sure to check the included user manual or website if there are any materials you need clarification on!
In addition to the power of the laser, it also has a 600 mm/s maximum engraving speed. Thanks to these high speeds, I’ve noticed a considerable improvement in the quality of the laser work since switching to this machine.
xTool P2 Capabilities
Of course, the size of the machine matters a great deal. Especially if you ever plan to do any large-size projects.
Here are some details about the maximum height materials you can use with the xTool P2.

xTool P2 Safety Specs
Safe operation is super important When crafting with a laser machine. Thankfully, the xTool P2 comes with a number of safety features.
I couldn’t write this review without mentioning these, especially as a mom with kids in the house!
The first feature is called automatic lock. This means when the lid of the machine is closed, it will automatically lock so that it can’t be opened by mistake. Knowing my kids can’t open it makes me rest a lot easier.
In addition to keeping the lid locked when closed, there is also hydraulic support when the cover is open to keep it from accidentally falling on you while you’re working in the machine.
If smoke leakage is a concern, and I know it is for a lot of crafters who have worked with other similar machines, you’ll be happy to know the xTool P2 has an enclosed design to prevent smoke or leakage.
Finally, it has a multiple warning systems and an emergency stop button you can use in an emergency.
Overall, this machine is very safe to use, and I feel comfortable using it in my house with kids.

Now, the question you’re probably dying to know the answer to.
What kind of materials can I use with this thing?
If you’re anything like me, you love to experiment and play around with a wide range of materials. It’s fun to try new things!
Well, you’ll be happy to know the xTool P2 words with:

- And other various materials.
One important thing to note is that if you plan to use stainless steel, you must spray a coating beforehand.
If you aren’t sure if you can use a particular material, refer to your included owner’s manual. That’s what I do!
xTool P2 Cost
Now, most of us are on some kind of budget. So, it’s important to know how much this laser cutter machine costs and if it is worth the investment!
When writing this review (June 2023), the xTool P2 retails for $4,999 USD. That may seem like a lot at first glance, but considering all the features packed into this machine – it’s a great deal.
What’s more, it’s cheaper than most of its direct competitors. Please look at the included comparison chart to see how it stacks up next to the Omtech 55W or the Glowforge Pro.
xTool P2 Overall Review
When crafting, you want a machine that can do the job quickly and efficiently. And with its slew of features, this machine does just that!
The CO2 laser head is strong enough to cut through various materials easily. Plus, the adjustable air assist helps prevent scorching or burning while keeping the engraving speed high.
It’s also easy to use, has great safety features, and is more affordable than many competitors.
So, when it comes to laser engraving and cutting machines, the xTool P2 is an excellent choice for any crafter or small business owner.
Who Is The xTool P2 For?
Whether you own a small business or love crafting as part of your hobby, the xTool P2 is an excellent choice for you.
As I said in the previous section, it has all the features and capabilities necessary to easily tackle large projects. Plus, it’s easy to use and has excellent safety features, making it a worry-free option.
And with its price point, it’s a no-brainer option, especially for people who plan to use this machine a lot.
xTool P2 vs. Glowforge Pro
One of the biggest competitors for the xTool P2 is the Glowforge Pro. So, let’s look at how they stack up against each other.
The Similarities
Like many top-quality laser machines you can buy, these two options share a few similarities.
- Both have built-in air assist to help keep your materials cool and prevent them from burning.
- They both work with similar materials.
- Finally, they both have good cameras, though I prefer the cameras on the xTool P2.
The Pros
These points are where the xTool P2 stands out compared to the Glowforge Pro.
- The xTool P2 is considerably less expensive than its competitor.
- The xTool P2 also has a more powerful laser head, making working with certain materials easier.
- Even though the Glowforge Pro has safety features like sensors, these features are not as good as the safety features of the xTool P2. And if you’re a mom like me, this value can’t be understated!
The Downsides
The most obvious downside of the xTool P2 is the size difference compared to the Glowforge Pro.
While the xTool measures 1000*639*268mm, the Glowforge is only 527*965*210mm. Plus, it weighs a lot less.
Overall, the xTool P2 is an excellent choice for any crafter or small business owner. It’s got plenty of features, a great price point, and is easy to use. Plus, it’s safe enough for any home with kids around!
