What Cricut Vinyl Do I Use For Beautiful Wood Signs?

For any kind of wood door hanger, not just this 1 you will want to use adhesive vinyl. Permanent vinyl to be exact. To prep the wood circle to attach the vinyl you will want to paint the front and back of the sign, allow that coat to dry, and then go in with a second coat.

With permanent vinyl, you will transfer the design onto your wood door hangers using a piece of transfer tape.

For smaller designs, you can sometimes get away with masking tape or a lint roller to transfer the design.

    Tools

    Instructions

    1. Open Cricut design space and upload the maleficent SVG files.
    2. Paint the wood round with white paint. It is a good idea to let each coat of paint dry completely before moving on.
    3. The round is 18 inches, and so is the file. You can double-check by measuring the round and then checking the file size. You will want to change the file size to 17 inches- to 17.5 inches so that the images aren't right on the edges. And use the slice tool to slice the image into pieces that your Cricut will cut.
    4. Cut and weed out the excess vinyl from around the design.
    5. Use transfer paper a scraper tool and to remove the Maleficent Door Round SVG from the backing and place it onto the wood.
    6. Burnish the vinyl design onto the wood well. Then peel back the transfer tape carefully making sure the design sticks to the wood.
    7. Once all the vinyl is in place. Flip the board over and staple the ribbon onto the back to secure it.
    8. Triple knot the ribbon. Hang on the door with a wreath door hook.
