This layered infusible ink camping mug looks detailed and colorful, but the real magic happens in Cricut Design Space. In this class, you’ll learn how to build a layered mug design using a mug wrap, weld and slice text into the wrap, and prep everything correctly for infusible ink and the Cricut Mug Press.
This is a great project if you want to move past basic one‑layer mug designs and really understand how layered infusible ink works.

Step 2: Download the Files
This project uses a layered SVG design provided for the class. If you registered for the event, the design is already included. Otherwise, download the SVG from the link in the description and upload it into Cricut Design Space.

Step 3: Watch the Video Tutorial
In the video, you’ll see how to: – Choose the correct mug wrap size in Cricut Design Space – Build a two-sided mug design – Create a layered look using text and shapes – Prep infusible ink designs for cutting and pressing.
Design Space Skills You’ll Learn in This Project
This class focuses on designing specifically for curved surfaces and infusible ink projects.
You’ll learn how to:
- Start a project on a blank canvas
- Use filters to find free images inside Cricut Design Space
- Select and size mug wraps correctly
- Upload SVG files and resize proportionally
- Duplicate and align designs for two-sided mugs
- Use Align tools to center designs horizontally and vertically
- Group and ungroup layers strategically
- Use Weld to combine text and design elements
- Use Slice to cut designs into a mug wrap
- Prepare infusible ink projects by turning Mirror ON
- Organize multi-color designs across multiple mats
These skills apply to mugs, tumblers, sublimation projects, and curved-surface designs.
Cut, Weed, and Press the Mug
Once your design is ready:
- Set all mats to 12 x 12
- Turn Mirror ON for all infusible ink layers
- Place infusible ink sheets shiny-side down on the mat
- Cut using the Infusible Ink Transfer Sheet setting
- Remove the mat from the material to prevent curling
- Weed infusible ink carefully using fingers or tweezers
For pressing:
- Wipe the mug with rubbing alcohol and allow it to dry
- Place the infusible ink design ink-side down on the mug
- Center the design and press firmly around the mug
- Insert the mug into the Cricut Mug Press
- Press until the cycle completes
- Allow the mug to cool completely before removing the transfer
Your layered infusible ink camping mug is now finished.
Project Tips
- Always measure your mug before finalizing design size
- Thinning a design slightly helps prevent edge gaps
- Store unused infusible ink sheets in their packaging to avoid moisture
- Avoid scratching infusible ink while weeding
