Can I Use Any Mug With The Cricut Mug Press?
Although these are microwave-safe ceramic mugs, please note that to personalize these coffee cups with Cricut Infusible Ink Transfer Sheets you will need a special mug. The Cricut Brand Blank mugs or sublimation mugs.
Both of these mug types feature a special coating that allows the infusible ink to “infuse into the mug”. You will also need a cutting machine.
I like to use my Cricut Joy when designing mugs. Because the transfer sheets for the joy are perfectly sized for personalized coffee mugs.
There are tons of pre-made designs in Cricut design space. And even more, images if you have Cricut access.
How Do I Make Photo Mugs With The Cricut Mug Press?
For photo mugs, to clarify, you will need a special printer with special ink to print the image to make it stay. In short, for sublimation, I recommend the EcoTank printer and Cosmos Sublimation ink. However, custom-designed mugs with photos make amazing gifts!

How To Use Cricut Design Space For Cricut Mug Design
If you are looking to learn how to use Cricut Design Space To Make Mug Designs, you've come to the right place. In this video tutorial I am going to show you how to design your own Cricut Mug Designs using Cricut design Space.
The new Cricut Mug Press makes it really easy to create custom coffee mug designs. And I am going to show you how easy it is to make your own mug wrap designs with just a few steps and supplies! Lets cover a few things first.
Materials
- Infusible Ink Sheets
- Heat resistant tape
- Design using Cricut Design Space or Cricut Access Images and fonts
Tools
- Cricut Mug Press
- Cricut Joy
Instructions
- Choose the blank mug press template that matches the size of your mug.
- Using Cricut Design Space choose some images and fonts you want to add to your design.
- Resize the images and fonts and arrange them on your mug press template in the way you want them to look on your mug.
- Select the images 1 at a time along with the mug wrap, keeping them in theplaces you want them and click slice.
- Remove the areas you do not want to keep.
- You should be left with the outline and the background layer of the wrap (make sure the red mug guides are off)
- Select the mug warp and outline line attach. Now choose your machine and click make it.
- Your image should have the mug wrap template and also your design, 1 on top of the other. Mirror it.
- Choose infusible ink transfers as your material. Load Your Machine and cut. Once it is done cutting, remove the mat from the machine and place it face down and remove the mat from the transfer sheet.
- "Weed" or crack and peel the areas of your design that you dont need, leaving the transfer sheet in tact, you will need it for the next part.
- Pull the transfer sheet over the mug and press out any bubbles. Making sure the transfer sheet is completly touching your mug.
- Place it into the mug press and put it into the mug press and close the lever.
- When you hear the beep remove it from the press and allow to cool completly bevore you remove the wrap.
