This line art floral monogram tote is all about learning how to build a design inside Cricut Design Space instead of relying on a finished SVG. In this class, you’ll start with a single letter, layer floral elements around it, and use offset, slice, contour, and weld to create a clean line art style design that’s ready for heat transfer vinyl.
If you’ve ever wanted to understand how people make those custom monogram designs from scratch — this is that class.

Step 3: Watch the Video Tutorial
In the video, you’ll see how to: – Build a custom monogram design from a single letter – Layer floral SVG elements to create a balanced layout – Prep a detailed design for cutting and pressing
Design Space Skills You’ll Learn in This Project
This class is heavily focused on advanced design-building skills inside Cricut Design Space
You’ll learn how to:
- Start a project from a blank canvas
- Add and edit text using Cricut fonts
- Filter fonts to show only free options
- Resize, rotate, and position text precisely
- Upload SVG files and ungroup elements
- Duplicate, flip, and reposition design elements
- Use Weld to combine multiple shapes into one layer
- Add Offsets to control spacing and line weight
- Use Contour to hide inner cut lines
- Use Slice to remove overlapping areas cleanly
- Build line art–style designs that cut cleanly
- Prepare layered designs correctly for HTV by mirroring
These skills transfer directly to custom monograms, shirts, totes, signs, and layered vinyl projects.
Step 4: Cut, Weed, and Press
Once your design is finished:
- Measure the tote bag area and resize the design (approximately 6 inches tall)
- Set your mat size to 12 x 12
- Turn Mirror ON for HTV
- Cut using the Glitter Iron-On setting (or appropriate HTV setting)
- Use a brayer to secure vinyl to the mat
- Weed carefully, taking extra time with thin and detailed lines
For pressing:
- Lint-roll the tote to remove dust and lint
- Fold the design slightly to help center it on the bag
- Press using a mini heat press on high heat for about 20 seconds
- Peel the carrier sheet and re-press briefly if needed
Your line art floral monogram mini tote is now complete.
Project Tips
- Line art designs may need a second cut for clean weeding
- Slowing down during weeding prevents tearing thin lines
- Keeping vinyl on the mat helps control rolled material
- Small offset adjustments make a big difference in final results
