You can find all of the materials you may need at a craft store near you. I would not suggest using spray paint for this craft because you may not get the look you want.

There is no better way to welcome spring with open arms than by making some decorations to match it.

Using chalk paint will get you a nice chalky look to your painted jars. Be smooth with your brush strokes, let the paint dry completely, finish your home decor.

This has been 1 of my favorite Easter crafts this year. I had a fun time adding this spring SVG to small jars loaded with candy for our easter egg hunt.

Two nice coats of paint should do the trick. I prefer to let the jars dry overnight, and distract myself with another craft while I wait, but that may be a bit excessive.

I’m sure you are really feeling the spring spirit by now, so let me bless you with some more spring and Easter crafts for you to try.

Instructions

Gather Your Supplies.

  1. Thoroughly wash jars with soap and hot water and let them dry completely before using.
  2. On a blank Design Space canvas, upload the Easter Egg SVG file.
  3. Measure the glass jar and resize the eggs to fit on the jars as needed. We resized the largest to 3.75” high, the medium size to 2.25” high, and the smallest eggs to 1” high.
  4. Select “Make It” in Design Space and choose to cut without a mat.
  5. Set material type to Smart Vinyl, Removable.
  6. Follow prompts on loading mat into your Cricut Joy and cutting the Smart Vinyl.
  7. When the cut is complete, unload the vinyl.
  8. Cut around each egg image with a pair of scissors. Using the weeding tool or your fingernails, peel away the excess vinyl around the vinyl-cut images and discard them.
  9. Cut a piece of transfer tape a bit larger than the egg.
  10. Peel away the transfer tape backing and place the transfer tape over the top of the vinyl image.
  11. Gently rub the vinyl to help it stick to the transfer tape.
  12. Peel away the backing, leaving the egg adhered to the transfer tape.
  13. Position the egg and transfer tape onto the smooth side of a mason jar and press in place in the middle of the jar.
  14. Slowly and carefully remove the transfer tape leaving the vinyl egg design on the jar.
  15. Similarly, position the other eggs onto the remaining glass jars.
  16. Using a medium-sized paintbrush, apply Chalky Finish in Rejuvenate over the surface of the smallest jar including the vinyl eggs. Allow it to fully dry before applying the second coat of paint.
  17. Paint the medium-sized jar in Delicate and the largest jar in Lace color.
  18. Once dry, use the weeding tool or your fingernails to pick away and peel off the vinyl egg shapes and discard.
  19. Using fine-grit sandpaper, gently sand the painted jars to distress the edges.Yellow and white painted mason jars on a table
  20. To finish, apply a dab of glue to the top of the jar lid and press a decorative bird’s nest on top and tie a piece of twine around the neck of the jars.
  21. Fill with Easter treats and chocolate eggs.chalky painted mason jars for Easter; light yellows, pinks, and blues for the eggs, twine tied around the lid; egg cut out shapes on the front; eggs spilling out of sideways jar
