Family Birthday Board Vinyl Project
Reading instructions with not images can be a difficult task, especially since each person can interpret things differently. Images will make it all the easier for you.
Materials
- wood rounds
- Wood Pine Board
- Black Permanent Vinyl
- Wood Stain
- Small Screw Eye
- Jump Rings
- Picture hanging hardware
- Mod Podge Spray
- Names for your board (use this font)
Tools
- Cricut Cutting Machine with Fine Cutting Blade
- Light Grip Mat
- Clean (but disposable) Rag
- Sponge Brush
- mini drill
Instructions
- Download the design, resize, add your names and cut the design.
- Start by adding the hook screws into the bottom of your plaque. You will need to measure and drill a small hole evenly across the board.
- Now Stain your wood pieces. Wear gloves for this part. Apply the stain in smooth, consistent motions, moving the sponge brush with the grain of the wood.
- Allow to sit the amount of time according to the directions and then wipe away any excess stain with the rag.
- Allow the stain to dry completely.
- Apply a coat of Mod Podge Spray, prior to applying your vinyl.
- Weed out the design from your vinyl.
- Place the design into position on the corresponding wood piece. ‘Family Birthdays’ should be located in the center/top of the plaque with the month abbreviations located along the bottom of the plaque, spaced apart evenly; finally, the names and dates should be placed on the wood rounds.
- Using your scraper, transfer the vinyl to the plaque. Remove the transfer sheet and discard.
- Using the tiny eye hooks, place one into the top of each of the wood rounds with names.
- Attach the picture hanger(s) on the back of the plaque.
- Hang the plaque on the wall and attach the wood round names on the hooks, as they correspond with each month. Then enjoy!
