DIY Paper Flower Wreath

This wreath is not suitable for the outside of the front door unless you seal the paper with something, either way, this paper wreath is amazing for home decor. But this is a fun project for school-age kids to hang on their bedroom door.
Once you have learned to make these paper flowers, you can add them to wood signs, handmade cards and so much more. Replace the flowers with poinsettia flowers and now you have amazing Christmas Decorations.

How To Make A Floral Paper Wreath

Floral paper flower wreaths are fun to make. These paper wreaths are easy enough to make with the kids at home or in the classroom!

Materials

  • Colored scrapbook paper
  • Pencil
  • Burlap fabric
  • Round base for the wreath
  • Paper Wreath Free Design

Tools

  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Scissors
  • Printer or Cricut Machine

Instructions

  1. Gather your supplies. Download the zip file with the paper wreath templates in it. burlap, hot glue gun and burlap for paper wreath
  2. Look through the file types and grab the 1 you need for the floral wreath. Print or cut the file. If you do not have a cutting machine then you will use the pdf templates and print. You can either fold and cut the patterns for this flower or simply trace the patterns from the template. Cut everything out.
  3. Use a small paintbrush or any small round object to create curves on the open ends of the petals. Take any one of the petals and apply glue on one side of it; join it with the other side. Take each of the petals one by one and do the same, joining their two open sides.
  4. Now take the 2 5 petaled patterns and glue them together; one on top of the other one. 
  5. Keep gluing petals until you are satisfied with the look.  
  1. The paper flowers with more petals should be on the bottom and the ones with fewer petals should be on the top.
  2. Create 4 or 5 more of these paper roses of different sizes for the wreath.
  3. Trace and cut out the leaf patterns from green-colored cardstock paper. Create vertical and horizontal creases on the leaves to give them a 3d look.
  4. Take the round base wreath and prepare a long strip of burlap fabric or you can also use burlap ribbon.
  5. Apply hot glue on the open end of the burlap strip and attach it with the base. Start to wrap the burlap strip around the base.
  6. Keep wrapping the strip until the whole base is covered. 
  7. Take the paper roses and glue them on the wreath using hot glue. I kept the flowers on one side.
  8. After attaching all the flowers start to glue the leaves between the flowers.
  9. Once you are satisfied with the wreath pattern attach a hanging mechanism on the backside of the base and done!
