The downloaded files will show as a zipped folder on your computer. Once you unzip the file, you will have access to your SVG file, plus a DXF file, AI file, and EPS file which you can also use for other crafts.
Make sure you save this somewhere on your computer that you can easily find it!
What do I need to make this DIY Christmas Ornament?
If you are going to use this red Christmas truck SVG file to make Christmas ornaments as I did, then you will need paint markers, MDF board, glue, and a laser cutter.
If you don’t want to use an MDF board, you can also use any laser safe wood.
How To Make The Red Christmas Truck SVG Ornament
Since you will be using a laser cutter for this project, you can upload the SVG file into the software your laser cutter uses.
As I said before, I used MDF board. It’s cheap and you can find it any craft or hardware store. However, you can also use real wood if you would prefer.
Next, you will use your laser cutter to print out each of the cut files.
Once each piece is cut out, you can use your paint markers to color each of the pieces. This part is really fun because you can decorate your red truck however you want.
You can include your name, the date, a Christmas quote, or a message if you are giving this to someone as a handmade gift.
Once all the pieces are decorated the way you want, you just need to glue them together.
And that’s all you need to do to turn this vintage truck SVG into a cute Christmas ornament.
Can I use a cutting machine instead of a laser cutter?
If you want to use MDF board, then you will need to use a laser cutter since cutting machines can’t cut this kind of material.
If you only have access to a cutting machine, you can use paper or card stock instead. But, the ornament will not be as strong.
