Cricut Infusible Ink Projects are a great way to dip your toe into sublimation. Because you don’t require a special printer for infusible ink transfers they are the perfect way to practice the transfer process of sublimation using a preprinted sheet.

What Is Infusible Ink?
Infusible Ink Products are specially formulated inks that “infuse” into the fabric of your base material. The ink is heat activated by using light pressure and high heat. The end result is a professional quality product that will last forever.
Can You Use Infusible Ink On A Cotton Shirt?
You do need to use polyester blends for your Infusible Ink Designs. For best results, you should use at least 65% polyester. The higher your polyester count the more vibrant colors you will get. So, no is the short answer, this will not work on cotton, alone.
What Is The Difference Between Sublimation And Cricut Infusible Ink Projects?
With Cricut Infusible Ink Projects you will 90% of the time use your Cricut Machine to complete the projects. The sheets are preprinted with the Infusible Ink System if you are using transfer sheets.
But with Sublimation Ink and a Sublimation printer, the design possibilities are endless, because you are using an inkjet printer, you can print anything you can dream up! The 1 drawback of both of these methods is that you can only use them on light-colored fabrics.
What Material Does Infusible Ink Work Best On?
As I mentioned above, this sheet with a colorful design works best on polyester. I know that sounds super limiting. Trust me, it’s not. You can use Cricut’s Infusible Ink Transfer Sheets and Cricut Infusible Ink Pens, also on poly-coated materials. Here are some ideas of materials you can use. The great thing is that you do not always have to use Cricut Blanks.
- tote bags
- ceramic coasters
- baby bodysuits
- pop sockets
- bottle openers
- t-shirts
- tumblers
And there is even more than that out there! The first thing you should do each time for perfect results is to make sure that you have the correct materials, either sublimation blanks, Cricut products that are specifically designed for Infusible Ink Projects, or other compatible blanks.
